mostly been painting more RTB01 marines...

Well time for another update, this past few weeks I've been painting more of my RTB01 company (and playing a few games too).

My penchant for swapping weapons on painted miniatures has continued and lots of "finished figures have looked down to see a ram lopped off at the wrist or the elbow.  My poor assault sgt must be on his fourth arm by now, if not more.

As things stand I now have about 100 marines painted but need 26/27 more finished to allow me to field the battle company in the configuration I want, I just wish i could stop getting distracted and painting more bikes and vehicles...

  

Next stop for these boys is the Yorkshire open york heat on the 22nd wish me luck.

Well I didn't qualify for the Yorkshire open at the Rage event but I did win best army again, so that's three out of three so I'm feeling pretty good about the army at the moment.  In a fit of mentality I've decided to expand the RTB01 army and paint a company of marines to take to next Caledonian uprising in Jan next year.  I think it's doable and its really motivating my painting, here's some more of the guys I've been working this past week or so.

I think i have about 30 more to finish and I should be able to field a full company group at 1850pts with another 1000 points of extra stuff like armour and elites.

been mostly getting ready for Rage at leeds...

Well been painting a few more things in my run up to the Royal Armouries Gaming Event (RAGE) Leeds heat of the York open, not much of it will end up in my army for Rage but getting ready for a tourney always inspires me to paint up a lot of new stuff. So here's the few things i done in the last few weeks.

Last thing finished was the MK1 Predator 

Next I've managed to finally finish the last of the vindicators

 

As I wasn't happy with the last Captain cheese hammer I made anew one on a jet bike

Still not 100% happy but an improvement on last one on a bike I think.

Managed to bag a few more marines off E-bay and my Buddy Peter for the midtable obscurity Blog, at this rate I may end up with a full company

mostly been to Caledonian Uprising 4

Well this last weekend I went to Caledonian uprising 4 run by Tim King in Stockport and by all accounts I had a whale of a time, not much success on the gaming front though (I finished bottom half way down in the 70's) but I did manage to pick up a tasty bit of glassware coming 2nd in the painting competition (very surprised, after only qualifying for best army when they raised the number of nominations from 10 to 14 and only slipping in as the 13th nomination).  The overall standard of the painting was really rather awesome and below I've put some shots of the armies on display over the weekend for folk to enjoy.

Once again I'm under no illusions that my army was really painted all that well, but people seemed to like the work and effort I put into collecting the old rogue trader marines and restoring them to their former glory, it looks like the rose tinted glasses of nostalgia carried me through where skill and talent would never have carried me once again... Enjoy.

Well just so you can see my painting hasn't stopped here's the latest additions to the rogue marines, Captain Cheese Hammer(i had a problem with the spray undercoat so the finish is very rough but He'll do for now.
